Mr. Godoy is a Founder and Managing Partner at Godoy & Hoyos Abogados. His areas of practice include Tax Planning & Advice (Corporate & International); Power and Natural Resources Law; Tax Controversies (Corporate & International); Estate and Personal Tax Planning; Trade Regulations and Customs Law.
Prior to founding his law firm, Mr. Godoy served as Vice President of Finance, General Secretary and, later, interim Chief Executive Officer of Oleoducto Central S.A. (OCENSA). He was also a partner at Baker & McKenzie, and the Colombian Director of the Tax and Foreign Commerce practice and Manager of the Tax Department at Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Godoy has held numerous distinguished appointments including Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law, President of the Colombian branch of the International Fiscal Association, President of the Executive Council of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law, and President of the Executive Council of the Latin American Institute of Tax Law. He has authored several books regarding tax matters and is a Professor of Tax Law at the Universidad Javeriana, the Universidad de los Andes Schools of Law and the Universidad del Rosario Schools of Law.
Juan Pablo Godoy received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, 1988.

Mr. Pike has over 20 years of experience in the field of customs and international trade regulation, consulting, and litigation stemming from two major law firms and one "Big 4" firm, where he spent 13 years with Deloitte & Touche as the National Director of Customs Services. In 2006, he founded his own boutique law firm and represents many large and mid-size multinational companies involved in cross-border transactions. His expertise spans every major industry, and Mr. Pike is a recognized global authority on customs valuation. He pioneered the use of transfer pricing methods to support customs value declarations and remains the only practitioner to have US Customs HQ rulings approved using "transaction values" based on bilateral Advance Pricing Agreements with the IRS and other income tax authorities. He also assists in global corporate compliance and duty reduction/refund efforts, focusing on tariff classification, trade preference programs (such as NAFTA and the Generalized System of Preferences), duty drawback, intellectual property protection, cost-unbundling for customs valuation (focusing on intangibles), country of origin marking, and all other import-related regulations. Mr. Pike also advises clients on export controls and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security, and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) of the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls at the U.S. State Department.
Mr. Pike is a frequent contributor to BNA's Transfer Pricing International publication, and has written extensively on customs and trade topics. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Emory University in Atlanta, and was a keynote speaker at the 2007 Symposium on Customs Valuation and Transfer Pricing at the World Customs Organization in Brussels, Belgium. He has spoken at many other trade and industry events, including those of the American Bar Association (ABA), National Retail Federation, the American Association of Exporters and Importers, the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones, and the Tax Executives Institute (TEI).
Mr. Pike is a licensed U.S. Customhouse broker, and holds a law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (with honors) from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He began his career as a law clerk to the Hon. R. Kenton Musgrave at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York City, and also worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator James T. Broyhill of North Carolina prior to attending law school.
